Kevin Williamson Honors Late Dawsons Creek Star James Van Der Beek

Television creator Kevin Williamson honored the late actor James Van Der Beek during the Barbara Berlanti Heroes Gala, Variety reported. Williamson made the comments while receiving a Hero Award at the annual benefit event, which is hosted by Greg Berlanti for the F Cancer organization. [1]

According to Variety, Williamson praised Van Der Beek as the soul of the television series Dawson's Creek. He noted that the late actor handled his battle with cancer with grace and courage during his illness. [1]

Van Der Beek played the lead role of Dawson Leery on The WB series Dawson's Creek from 1998 to 2003. His career included roles as a fictionalized version of himself on Don't Trust the B in Apartment 23, FBI agent Elijah Mundo on CSI Cyber, and Matt Bromley on Pose. [2]

Williamson created the teen drama Dawson's Creek and wrote the screenplays for the Scream horror film franchise. He also created several other network television series, including The Vampire Diaries, The Following, and Tell Me a Story. [3]
