Amazon debuts trailer for Blade Runner 2099 starring Yeoh and Schafer

Prime Video has premiered a new trailer for its upcoming limited series Blade Runner 2099 at New York Comic Con. Variety and IGN both reported that the science fiction television show stars Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer. The project marks a continuation of the franchise on Amazon Prime Video. [1][3][8]

According to Variety, the limited series is set 50 years after the events of the movie Blade Runner 2049 in a reborn Los Angeles. Hunter Schafer plays Cora, a fugitive who takes on a final identity as a Blade Runner. Variety reported that Cora is forced to partner with Olwen, a near-death Replicant played by Michelle Yeoh. [1]

The narrative follows the duo as they hunt down a runaway who is hiding a truth that could collapse the city. The original 1982 film Blade Runner was directed by Ridley Scott and introduced a dystopian future Los Angeles where synthetic humans called replicants are created by the Tyrell Corporation. [1][9]

The platform distribution comes from Amazon Prime Video, which began distributing original television programming in 2013 with titles developed by Amazon Studios. Related outlets, including TransgenderFeed, verified that Schafer stars alongside Yeoh in the new production. [6][8]
