A stage adaptation of Dirty Dancing is scheduled to open on Broadway at the Lena Horne Theatre in New York on February 12, 2027. Rolling Stone Culture, Variety Legit, and The Hollywood Reporter all reported that the musical will run through September 5, 2027. Rolling Stone Culture noted that the cast features Annalese Starzec as Frances Baby Houseman and Blake Zelesnikar as Johnny Castle. [1][3][4]

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the production is currently part of a national tour that launched in St. Paul, Minnesota, in August. The New York Times Arts reported that the stage show attracted audiences while touring for years despite mixed reviews, and has undergone significant overhauls. Deadline added that Lionsgate is among the producers backing the limited seven-month Broadway engagement. [2][4][5]

The creative team includes a new book written by Eleanor Bergstein, who wrote the original screenplay for the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show is directed by Lonny Price, who played Neil Kellerman in the 1987 movie, with choreography by Darrell Grand Moultrie, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter and Deadline. [4][5]

The original 1987 romantic drama film starred Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey and followed a young woman who falls in love with a dance instructor at a Catskills resort in 1963. Rolling Stone Culture reported that the stage production features famous songs from the movie soundtrack, including Hungry Eyes, Do You Love Me, and I Have Had The Time of My Life. [1][13][16]
