Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr reuniting for Hulu pilot

Actors Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr are reuniting to star in a new Hulu comedy pilot inspired by the 1996 dark comedy film The Cable Guy, according to The Hollywood Reporter and Yahoo News UK. Both actors will lead the untitled project and serve as executive producers. [1][3]

The Hollywood Reporter reported that the pilot was initially announced in June. In the show, Johnson plays cable technician Chip Douglas, who languishes alone in a modern landscape of endless streaming and algorithms, while Wayans plays a character named Steven Stephens. [1]

The project is inspired by The Cable Guy, which was directed by Ben Stiller and starred Jim Carrey. Johnson and Wayans previously starred together in the television series New Girl, as well as the 2014 comedy film Let us Be Cops. The entire main cast of New Girl recently reunited at a special event. [1]
