Kelsey Grammer to star in NBC medical drama Pops

Actor Kelsey Grammer is set to star in Pops, a new broadcast drama series currently in development at NBC. TVLine and Deadline both report that the project is written by former Chicago Med writer and producer Danny Weiss. Deadline adds that Grammer will also serve as an executive producer on the prospective series. [1][2][3]

The series follows a character aged out of his previous career who enters emergency medicine alongside younger first responders. TVLine reported that the plot is inspired by the real life story of Maryland resident Ed Levien, who retrained as an emergency medical technician. TVLine noted that the setup shares thematic elements with the ABC drama series The Rookie. [1]

The project marks a potential return to NBC for Grammer 22 years after the conclusion of his previous series, according to Deadline. Grammer starred as Dr. Frasier Crane on the NBC sitcom Frasier, which aired on the network for 11 seasons from September 1993 until May 2004. [2][4]
