The search for the next actor to play James Bond is entering its final stages, according to Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter. Deadline reported that Amazon MGM Studios is setting final auditions over the next week, with screen tests potentially starting as early as Friday. Slate Culture reported that the search for the new 007 has narrowed to four actors. [1][6][7]

GoldDerby reported that director Denis Villeneuve is preparing to direct the next James Bond film after completing Dune: Part Three. GoldDerby noted that screen tests are beginning for a handful of actors, with reports specifically naming two actors auditioning for the part. Decider reported that production under Villeneuve could begin next year, with a theatrical release most likely in 2028. [2][3][4]

Daniel Craig retired from the role after 15 years following the release of No Time to Die, Slate Culture and GoldDerby both reported. Slate Culture noted that former candidates discussed over the years included Michael B. Jordan, Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Regé-Jean Page, and Tom Hopper. Decider noted that 2027 marks the 65th anniversary of Dr. No, the original film debut of the character. [1][2][3][4]

James Bond is a fictional British secret agent created by novelist Ian Fleming in 1953, who has been portrayed in 27 film productions by seven actors, including Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan, and Daniel Craig. Eon Productions holds the film adaptation rights to the novels. As FTMQ Entertainment reported earlier, franchise casting speculation has continued alongside official brand exhibitions while production plans take shape. [9][11]
