Taye Diggs and Neil Patrick Harris Join Rent Anniversary Concert

Taye Diggs, Neil Patrick Harris, and Rachel Zegler have joined the cast of the Rent 30th-anniversary concert, according to reports from Rolling Stone Culture, BroadwayWorld, TheaterMania, and Playbill. Diggs played Benny in the original Broadway production of the musical. The one-night-only performance is scheduled to take place on October 26. [1][3][4][5][8]

The new cast additions join original Broadway cast members Idina Menzel, Adam Pascal, Anthony Rapp, and Daphne Rubin-Vega, Rolling Stone Culture reported. Playbill added that actor Norbert Leo Butz has also joined the lineup. The event features 60 Broadway performers and musical stars stage-side for the anniversary celebration. [1][5]

Diggs has previously appeared in the Broadway musicals Rent and Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Harris has received a Tony Award and five Primetime Emmy Awards during his career. Zegler played Maria in Steven Spielberg's 2021 film adaptation of the musical West Side Story, earning a Golden Globe Award for her performance. [6][7][8]
