Director Rian Johnson announced the launch of a new iPhone app called Chromagraph Camera, as reported by Deadline and The Times of India. Johnson collaborated with his longtime cinematographer Steve Yedlin to package their shared visual aesthetic into the application. The pair have worked together behind the camera for nearly 30 years. [1][2]

According to Deadline, the app utilizes the exact same image processing pipeline that Johnson and Yedlin employ on their feature film projects. Johnson noted that this digital processing technology was used on their earlier movies, including the 2005 film Brick, the 2017 feature Star Wars: Episode VIII, The Last Jedi, and the ongoing Knives Out film franchise. Digital image processing uses computer algorithms to manipulate digital images, offering advantages over analog methods by reducing noise and distortion build-up. Johnson, who is a two-time Oscar nominee, also created the Peacock mystery series Poker Face. [1][4][5]
