Cristian Mungiu's drama Fjord opened the fifth edition of Jakarta World Cinema at CGV Grand Indonesia, Variety reported. The film serves as Romania's submission for the international feature Oscar category at the 2027 Academy Awards. Cinematographer Tudor Vladimir Panduru attended the festival opening to lead a masterclass. [1]
Dan Adrian Bălănescu, the ambassador of Romania to Indonesia, praised the feature at the opening event, Variety reported. He stated that he was proud of the submission and expressed hope that the narrative would resonate with local audiences in Indonesia. [1]
As FTMQ Entertainment reported earlier, Fjord won the top Palme d'Or prize at the Cannes Film Festival before entering limited theatrical release. Directed by Cristian Mungiu, the film stars Sebastian Stan and Renate Reinsve in a story about a couple whose five children are taken by authorities in a small Norwegian town. [3]

The 39th Tokyo International Film Festival is taking place in the Yūrakuchō-Marunouchi-Ginza area, where a jury led by Dutch Australian director Rolf de Heer will review 15 competition titles to award the Tokyo Grand Prix.
