Clive Barker teases new Hellraiser film projects after video game release

Clive Barker is preparing to expand the Hellraiser film franchise nearly 40 years after directing the original 1987 horror movie. Deadline reported that the filmmaker has many ideas for future screen projects following the recent release of a new franchise video game. The Movie Blog also reported that Barker hinted at future Hellraiser projects after the game debuted. [1][3]

Barker stated that the accomplishments seen in the new video game served as a wake-up call for potential directions for the film series. He indicated that he plans to remain involved in the development of the franchise moving forward. [1]

The project follows the launch of Clive Barker's Hellraiser: Revival, a 2026 survival horror action game developed and published by Saber Interactive. Barker collaborated on the writing for the game, which was released in October 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Windows, and Xbox Series X and S. [1][6]

The original 1987 Hellraiser film was written and directed by Barker based on his own novella, introducing the Lament Configuration to cinema audiences. The new game received mixed reviews from critics upon its release. [1][6]
