Hilary Duff Reflects on Finishing Lizzie McGuire Franchise

Actor Hilary Duff stated in a recent interview that she was exhausted and completely done with playing the character Lizzie McGuire after filming concluded on the franchise movie, Variety TV and Variety reported. The Disney Channel show made Duff a star as a teenager. [1][2]

Variety TV and Variety reported that Duff felt done with the role following the release of The Lizzie McGuire Movie in 2003, which concluded the project. The film included the song What Dreams Are Made Of, which Duff stated she did not want to sing again at that time. [1][2]

Duff recently re-recorded the track What Dreams Are Made Of for her 2026 EP titled Mine, Variety TV and Variety reported. Duff also performed the song live for the first time this year on her Small Rooms, Big Nerves Tour. [1][2]

Lizzie McGuire was created by Terri Minsky and premiered on the Disney Channel on January 12, 2001. Duff starred as the title character in 65 episodes before the series concluded on February 14, 2004. A feature film adaptation, The Lizzie McGuire Movie, was released in theaters in 2003. [8]
