Actor Johnny Depp has addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Captain Jack Sparrow for a sixth entry in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Variety and IGN both reported that Depp spoke about the potential return during his press tour for the project Ebenezer. [1][7]

Variety and IMDb both report that Depp explained he would want to return to send the franchise off on a better note. According to Variety, Depp stopped short of officially confirming his appearance, but he stated that he would never turn down a request from producer Jerry Bruckheimer. [1][5]

Depp last portrayed the character in the fifth installment of the film series, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. The 2017 swashbuckler feature was directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, based on a screenplay by Jeff Nathanson. [9]

Variety noted that Depp would consider coming back if creative conditions align to wrap up the series properly. Further updates on official casting or production details for the sixth film have not been confirmed. [1]
