Paramount and Blumhouse Atomic Monster have partnered for a new horror film set in abandoned tunnels beneath New York City.

LaKeith Stanfield and Ben Mendelsohn will star in the horror thriller Molepeople, set for release on August 27, 2027. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety both reported that the film is being co-financed and co-produced by Blumhouse Atomic Monster and Paramount, with Paramount handling worldwide distribution through Paramount Primal. According to the Hollywood Reporter and Variety, the storyline follows a man who goes into abandoned tunnels beneath New York City, where he finds a twisted society lurking underground. Director Rob Savage will direct the feature from a script written by Nathan Elston. The Hollywood Reporter noted that production is scheduled to begin soon. [1][2]
Variety reported that Oscar nominee Stanfield previewed the upcoming movie during an appearance at New York Comic-Con on Friday evening. Emmy winner Mendelsohn co-stars in the project. Stanfield was born in California in 1991, while Mendelsohn built his early acting career in Australian television shows before starring in international Hollywood films. [1][2][5][6]
In a separate development at New York Comic-Con, Blumhouse Atomic Monster announced a deal with horror content creator Heidi Wong, according to Variety. Under the agreement, Wong will create original horror shorts inspired by Eastern mythology and folklore for the studio. [3]
