Stephanie March will return to Law and Order Special Victims Unit to guest star as former prosecutor Alexandra Cabot, according to reports from TVLine, Variety, and Deadline. March will appear in the ninth episode of the drama series' 28th season on NBC. [2][3][4][5]

Network details regarding Cabot's return storyline remain under wraps, and NBC has not yet set an official airdate for the episode, the Hollywood Reporter reported. March is the second former regular cast member returning to the series this season, joining Christopher Meloni, who will reprise his role as Elliot Stabler in the 600th episode scheduled for November 12. [2]

March played Cabot across eight seasons of the show after joining as a main cast member from season two in 2000 through season five in 2003, Variety and the Hollywood Reporter noted. In season five, her character faked her death and entered witness protection after being targeted by a drug cartel, according to TVLine and Variety. TVLine reported that detectives Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay, and Elliot Stabler later learned Cabot's death was staged. [2][3][4]

Variety noted that March has appeared in more than 100 episodes of the franchise over multiple guest returns. According to Deadline, March last appeared on the series during season 19 in an episode titled Sunk Cost Fallacy. [4][5]
