HBO has officially ordered a five-episode limited series revival of the comedy drama series Girls. Original creator Lena Dunham will return as showrunner and star, according to reports from Variety TV and IndieWire. Production on the project is scheduled to begin in 2027. [1][2][3]

IndieWire reported that all four main cast members, including Lena Dunham, Allison Williams, Zosia Mamet, and Jemima Kirke, will reprise their starring roles. Andrew Rannells is also set to return for the revival. The original series concluded its initial six-season run in April 2017. [1][2][3]

The upcoming revival comes a decade after the original series finale. The original production followed four young women navigating their careers and personal lives in New York City. [2]
