Director Kitao Sakurai has reached the top of the box office with the video game adaptation Street Fighter. The Hollywood Reporter called it the number-one movie in America, while FTMQ Entertainment reported earlier that the film led the global box office with over 30 million dollars domestically. ComicBookMovie.com reported that the film stars Andrew Koji as Ryu and Noah Centineo as Ken. [1][4][8]

Sakurai gained early experience as a teenage actor in Cleveland, appearing as a rollerblading triplet in Kevin Smith's 1999 film Dogma, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sakurai was raised on a film diet that included Jackie Chan, Jet Li, and Robert Altman at the Cleveland Cinematheque. [1]

Sakurai went on to help launch The Eric Andre Show in the 2010s, The Hollywood Reporter reported. Wikipedia notes that Sakurai was born in Japan and worked as the principal director on The Eric Andre Show from 2012 to 2023, as well as the writer and director of the 2021 film Bad Trip. [1][5]

Regarding potential future projects, Sakurai expressed interest in bringing back Koji and Centineo for a sequel, according to ComicBookMovie.com. However, Cosmic Book News reported that Sakurai backtracked on sequel plans, stating that creators have not put pen to paper. [3][4]
