Posthumous Eric Dane memoir details onset confrontation during early career

Late actor Eric Dane detailed a confrontation with Josh Duhamel on the set of the NBC television series Las Vegas in his posthumous memoir, My Book of Days: A Memoir in Moments. Variety, Complex, and IMDb all reported on the excerpt from the book, which was originally cited via Entertainment Weekly. Dane appeared as a guest star in the second season of the series, which ran for five seasons from 2003 to 2008 and starred Duhamel alongside James Caan. [1][6][7][9]

According to Variety, Dane filmed his guest appearance while suffering from a herniated disc in his neck. Because of his injury, Dane had asked Duhamel to go easy during their physical scenes, leading to the altercation detailed in the memoir. [1]

The New York Times Arts and The Hollywood Reporter reported that Dane worked on the book until his death in February. His death occurred less than a year after he announced a diagnosis of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or A.L.S. Dane was widely recognized for playing Dr. Mark Sloan on the ABC medical drama Grey's Anatomy and also appeared in the series Euphoria, according to The Hollywood Reporter and the New York Times Arts. The release of the book coincides with commentary from his family and further details about his final months. The Hollywood Reporter noted that his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, spoke about his final hospital stay timed to the publication of the posthumous project. [3]
