Cinematographer Steve Yedlin and director Rian Johnson have developed and launched a new iPhone camera application called Chromagraph, IndieWire reported. The application uses specialized math and color science to give mobile phone photography a more cinematic appearance. [1]
Yedlin discussed designing the app with IndieWire, explaining that he spent more than 20 years examining color science and technical tools to help filmmakers better craft imagery. The new application builds on his work attempting to make digital iPhone camera captures process color differently. [1]
As FTMQ Entertainment reported earlier, Johnson and Yedlin have collaborated for nearly 30 years, using the same digital image processing on feature films as the technology behind the new Chromagraph app. [7]
Yedlin has served as the cinematographer alongside Johnson on feature film projects including Brick, The Brothers Bloom, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and the Knives Out series, according to IndieWire and FTMQ Entertainment. [1][7]
