Actress Scarlett Johansson revealed in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that her role in the upcoming superhero film The Batman: Part II pushed her outside her comfort zone and gave her a lot of existential angst, according to reports by The Hollywood Reporter and Variety. Deadline also reported that Johansson called the part hard to figure out during her discussion about her upcoming projects. [1][2][3]

Outlets differed on details regarding her character. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety both reported that the character has not been publicly revealed. However, Deadline reported that Johansson is playing Gilda, the wife of Harvey Dent, in the Matt Reeves sequel. [1][2][3]

The upcoming film is directed by Matt Reeves from a screenplay he wrote with Mattson Tomlin, and stars Robert Pattinson alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance. Produced by Reeves, Lynn Harris, and Dylan Clark together with James Gunn and Peter Safran of DC Studios, the picture is set during winter as Batman investigates further corruption following the flooding of Gotham City. Warner Bros. Pictures will distribute the release. [8]

Johansson is also starring as a homicide detective in the upcoming horror project The Exorcist: Martyrs, as FTMQ Entertainment reported earlier. That film is written and directed by Mike Flanagan and produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek Entertainment, and Red Room Pictures. [1][10]
