Filmmaker and actor Jordan Firstman has launched his feature directorial debut film, Club Kid. NPR Arts and IndieWire report that Firstman wrote, directed, and stars in the comedy drama, which follows a gay New York party promoter whose life changes after he discovers he has a young son. IndieWire and NPR Arts note that the narrative centers on chosen family, queer nightlife, and a personal journey toward maturity. [1][3][4][11]

The independent film premiered internationally at the Cannes Film Festival in 2026, according to IndieWire. Variety reports that A24 is handling the title as an awards contender. According to NPR Arts, Firstman stated that the core dynamic of the narrative involves the lead character, Peter, learning to grow up while teaching his young son, Arlo, how to be a kid. [1][2][3]

Club Kid has picked up multiple accolades during the 2026 fall festival circuit. Variety reports that the film won Best Debut Feature at the 15th edition of Spain's Evolution Mallorca Film Festival. Variety also reports that the movie secured the narrative audience award at the 35th Philadelphia Film Festival. [5][6]

Firstman previously rose to prominence through short skit videos shared on social media during 2020. He also starred in the 2023 feature film Rotting in the Sun before making his feature directorial debut. The ensemble cast for Club Kid includes Cara Delevingne, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Colleen Camp, Vicki Pepperdine, and Diego Calva. [10][11]
